Common & Less Common Metal Density

Metals exhibit a wide range of densities, and this variation can be quite significant. For instance, Osmium (Os) stands out as the densest metal, boasting a density of 22.59 g/cm³, which is a staggering 42 times greater than that of the least dense metal, Lithium, at 0.534 g/cm³.

Common metals also exhibit distinct densities. Iron has a density of 7.87 g/cm³, mild steel is very close at 7.85 g/cm³, 304 stainless steel registers at 8.0 g/cm³, aluminum is relatively lightweight at 2.7 g/cm³, copper is denser at 8.93 g/cm³, and precious metals like gold and silver are notably dense, with densities of 19.3 g/cm³ and 10.49 g/cm³, respectively.

For more information on the densities of various metals, please refer to the metal density chart and table provided below.
